There was a memorial service yesterday at St Paul's cathedral in remembrence of what happened in Bali. I lined up Wednesday for two hours to get a ticket at the Australian High Commission. Headed down around 3:30pm yesterday for all the necessary secruity checks then sat inside what is an amazing church for the 5pm service. The place was full to the brim and I think there were probably a few more thousand people outside listening in. It was a very moving and beautiful tribute. The Queen, Prince Charles and the Duke of Edinburgh were all in attendence sitting up the front, some 15-20 rows in front of me.

Oh yeah, also started working last night. Landed a job at The Elusive Camel down at Tower bridge. Moved into a shared dorm room, where the staff sleep, above the pub yesterday and spent last night collecting glasses for my first night. Good to be working, they seem like a good crew so we'll see how this goes I guess.

Back looking for work, It's Monday morning, the new issue of TNT is on the streets. Time to make more phone calls. I intended to have an easy night last night. A quiet drink with an American. Then someone bloody well got me started on Sambucca shots. I don't think i've touched the stuff since my bad experience on the night on my 21st. Spent money last night when I didn't really need/want to. Bit tired today as a result.....
The new U2 single was released today. Ok, so I know I'm biased but it's fucking brilliant. Oh and so is their other new one "The hands that built America" Go listen to it already..

"Its early fall, there's a cloud on the New York skyline
Innocence dragged across a yellow line
These hands they built America"

Had a trial shift today at the Lords Tavern, the pub at Lords Cricket Ground up in St Johns Wood. Mainly all Aussies that work there it was a good atmosphere. Hopefully I'll get a full time job out of this but have to wait until tomorrow to see. A few others have applied for the position as well it seems. It's a live out thing which means I would have to find my own accomodation and will be hard to save anything but a job's a job and this would be alright.

Some seriously fucked up things go in this world sometimes. I'm sure you've heard about what happened in Bali and with so many Australians involved it brings it that much closer to home. Makes one feel ill. Been reading the news online trying to get details. Why????
It felt like pretty much all of Australia's London population were congregated in one spot yesterday as I went down to the AMP Oval to watch the Essendon v Richmond game. Ran into so many people I knew. My old flatmates in Knightsbridge...... Elicia and Suze... Sull.... Got my tickets from Paul's friend Claire at the start of the game... Briefly saw Keogh from primary school as we were kicking the footy on the ground after the game. Had a brief to chat to all of 'em.

I Headed down to the ground with Ben from the hostel and knocked back a few at the Hannover? pub nearby to begin with. Placed was packed, kicking the footy and talking to other Aussies. Game was great, although low standard but that wasn't an issue. The players and spectators alike wern't taking it seriously at all. Stood near the Richmond bench most of the time, not even paying attention to the game alot of the time. I handed my phone to Duncan Calloway to have a chat to Parry back home at one stage. Ben jumped the fence, sat on the bench with the players as I took his photo. Sam Newman and Eddie Maguire were above us in the stands. I yelled out for Sam to give us a wave, the idiot gave me the middle finger. Ben got it all on video camera.

Came home to change and freshen up, then to the walkabout. Band playing but to crowded. Came back to the Generator bar, DJ playing good music, dancing. Woke my whole room up in an extremely chatty mood...... Have slept most of today.....

P.S. Happy Birthday Dad!!!

Friday night was big. Just one of those nights where everyone there was in really high spirits and there to make the night memorable. I won 5 free drinks in a raffle so naturally had to make use of it. I could get anything I wanted so naturally i took advantage of the most expensive £4 cocktails. Knocked back those Long island ice teas and I was happy. The night was fun and everything was just funny. Let's just say I had a good time..

Saturday was quiet...

Awoke Sunday morning, Wes sent me an sms asking if i was going to the church. A Sunday session in an old warehouse full of Aussies, Kiwis and Saffers. Headed down there just after midday, the place is insane. With every song played the crowd roars. The people there have no shame! It's great!

So I turned down some job opportunities outside of London in favour of working here. I know the town and I know alot of people here. One position that I was pretty certain on gettin after an interveiw with the assistant manager has just been flushed down the toilet, thank you very much! Shoulda taken the other one when I had the chance. Now I've got to start again, feels like I'm going in circles. Same 'ol story really. Two weeks here and still where I started. I've had a good time though where I am, doing nothing much else but hang out during the day and heading to the bar at night for beer and pool with some good people. Not all that productive and a good money waster but no major regrets. If i hadda known it was going to take this long though I probably woulda pissed off to Paris or something for a few days.
