SO THIS IS CHRISTMAS
In a town and place far from home for the first time ever during the festive season. I'm hoping we may get some snow on the day but the chances of that in London are somewhat low, despite the freezing temperatures. Still, it would be nice. Spending it with some mates from back home will be some consolation from missing out on the usual family thing that takes place every year. Once the New Year is here, things will slow down and i may be ready to head home. The last 6 months have been amazing, some days better than others but overall memorable.

Had a little trip during the week... Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester. Caught a Premier League game and got to see more of the country besides London, Which in reality is somewhat different to the rest of the UK.

MISSIN' MA GEAR
One of the things I miss about about home, excluding the obvious of freinds and family of course. In a little while i'll be home....

Ma gear
HOLIDAYS
Heading to Leeds in the morning with Sticksy and Mick. Going for 4 or so days and meeting Croughy up there as he's comin' from Edinburgh. Anyway, we got tickets to a premier league game which should be pretty good as it's one of the things i've been meaning to do since coming over to this part of the world. Finished work today and wont be back for two weeks and it's good to have some time off again. Only downside is that when you're employed by a temp agency you get little to f£$%-all holiday pay. I have 3 days owing to me and a total of 10 working days off. If i had the choice to work over the break i would but as we're closed etc that ain't gunna happen. Ah well... guess ill be digging back into that now almost non-existant Aussie Account to get by eh? Would love to spend some more time outta London to but i'll be spending Chrissy and New Years here i reckon.

HYDE PARK
Spent a while this afternoon sitting by the lake down at Hyde Park with Julz and Carmel. Despite the cold there was still blue sky and lots of people around enjoying the day. People walking, running, rollerblading or just sitting down talking as we were doing. It's really beautiful down there and it's right across the road from my apartment. My own backyard and it's great. I reckon the temperature dropped about 10c in about 20 minutes come 3pm. Went from bearable to numbing, which was a good signal to leave. Headed home and got my thermal underwear on before heading on down to High St Kensington for a look around at some of the shops etc. At the Easy Everything Internet place now as I write this.

Was kinda convinced that going home isn't such a bad idea afterall. Both of the girls have done so themselves during the past year and half they've been away and said it's easy to come back if you really want. I'm settling in and love it here now though. The freedom here is comforting, there's always somewhere to go and someone to go out with not to mention the fact you've got the whole of Europe at your doorstep, but Summer at home is also nice thought. Not ready to go home but also ready for a holiday home even though it may seem somewhat boring compared to here. I'll miss the nights at the pub straight after work and the weekends of pubbing and clubbing with all the different freinds i've made here. But I do intend to come back so.

FREEDOM
..Feels like to many choices. Not a bad little line that by Bono. With Christmas and the New Year approaching, my job set to finish up and my lease set to expire one is left with alot of choices on what to do. My mind changes every minute. It's cold here now and it's kinda miserable in London this time of year. Some sun would be nice. Im kinda missing those summer drives to the beach, window down, music loud and one arm more tanned than the other cause it hangs out the window.
HERE COMES THE SUN
Went down to Abbey Road Studios last weekend to. Lots of people there laying floweRs and cards etc in rememberence for Goerge Harrison. Was a chilling feeling actually and kinda good to be there. Left a little note myself to pay my respects. I must admit, never was a huge Beatles fan but always liked and respected there music i suppose. They wrote soem great tunes, specially in there later years. Can't deny that they have influenced alot of other musicians that have followed.

INSOMNIA
When ur kept up till all hours by loud and drunken house mates, then only to be awoken at 6ish by alarms and other people getting ready for work, well, one doesn't really sleep. I've come to the conclusiuon that shared accomodation is rather hard, specially when ur sharing a bloody room. Didn't work today, called in sick and opted for sleep whilst everyone was out. Natural History Museum in Kensington was pretty good late this afternoon. Got a call from the temp agency to, apparently work isn't to happy at me taking another day off. Don't beleive im ill rather just been partying to hard. Guess i have but not last night anyway. What can i do? I was'nt up to it, no sleep, feeling run down and you try spend day after day doing filing? How's that song by Animals go again? Ah Yes? '" Weee gotta get outta this place"

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER DOLLAR
Saving cash seems hard these days. I need it to fund my next little adventure whever that may be, but when your earning £200 a week, once you pay rent, food and money for going out your really left with nothing. I suppose i could sacrifice a night out here and there or whatever but impulse spending is to hard to resist dammit. Always something going on and a chance to head down the pub. Went out Friday night with Kelly and Macca from Contiki. Huge night and spent lots. Camden markets on Sunday followed by a catch up session with Cath 'n' Ness which led to yet more money wasted on the bar. Movies tonight, American Pie 2, cause well I hadn't been in a while and just felt like it. If only i could resist the impulse and stay in. Perhaps then i could jet off to Scotland or wherever much sooner. Wworks boring as and i guess once i knock off i need something to do to keep me entertained. I'm really missing the hot weather now to. Relaxing on a beach would be nice.

LONDON
What can I say, this trip has lived up to every expectation. A week in Austria and Germany for Octoberfest, and a weekend back in Paris just gone. All since my last entry. Now I'm working in a boring office job, but hey it pays the rent and bills, living in a funky shared appartment in Knightsbridge and hoping to stay on here for a while longer yet. It's all good.

BACK IN IRELAND
Spent the last week back in Ireland doing a Southern tour. Last minute decision that proved worthwhile. Met some really great people, some of whom I intend to keep in touch with. Already planning a weekend away in Paris. Oh the joys of European travel... Had this Irish tourdriver named Don who was pretty funny. The Irish are such great people. Naturally by day we saw the sights and whatever and by night we boozed up. Few people from Melbourne as well as some girls from West Aussie and New Zealand proved to be heaps of fun and great company. Majority were female on this trip. Can't say i had anything to complain about there. Two nights in Dublin after the tour to kick on with the others and wind down. I love that city.

I'm still feeling I'll from the news in New York. I'll never forget that day i think. Was in Glendore in the country's west. As we headed into a pub we noticed everyone sitting around the television in the corner. At first it was like a movie. The towers had been struck by hijacked planes and as we watched the television in silence and shock the towers fell down before our eyes. Surreal is a good word i suppose. Tragic and unfair probably a better description. We were supposed to spend some 20 minutes at that pub. Ended up being 2 hours.

STERLING
Been a fantastic few weeks. U2 gigs in the UK and Slane Castle Ireland. Far beyond my expectations of being great. Now it's time to settle in and look for work. My money is disapearing quickly and i need to earn and UK wage if i want to stay on.

AT THE END OF THE WORLD
Excess partying takes it toll. It's finally catching up to me and i need a few days of good rest. In London now staying with Simon in his little basement flat. There are pubs everywhere here and avoiding a drink is rather hard. Went and caught U2 in Birmingham during the week and it was probably the most amazing gig i have ever seen. The emotion and intensity of it all was far beyond what i had expected.

RED LIGHT
Amsterdam at the end of my 29 day tour. I'm totally stuffed now and looking forward to getting back to London for a well earned rest. This trip has been the most wonderful experience ever.

EURO
Travelling around Europe has been amazing. No time to write but it's the best thing i ever did. Lovin' it Lovin' It Lovin' it.

IN POMMY LAND
After a 22 hour flight i'm in desperate need of a shower and a lay down. Can't check in until 2pm (now 11am), think i'll walk around and stuff. A few pints at the pub to watch the Rafter final could be a good option. This city is strange, so old compared to back home. Oh and it's expensive to.

LEAVE IT BEHIND...
Finally time to leave. Original flight with Cathay Pacific was cancelled yesterday due to the Typhoon in Asia. Was supposed to stop over in Hong Kong you see. Leave on a Qantas plane now, bound for Heathrow. So much ahead of me. Can't wait......

BUSY
So much to do lately. There's alot to organise just so one can get away from it all. Not long to go now.

GO AWAY
Weather was fine all day, and I was sooo pumped up for a good game of tennis tonight. Then it had to go and bloody well start raining as I got in from work. That's Melbourne for ya. As Neil Finn best described it in his little ode to the city. "Four Seasons In One Day". That's two washouts in two consecutive weeks. One more and I'll miss the Grand Final.

MILLION DOLLAR HOTEL
Rented the M$H last night. Enjoyed it the first time and enjoyed probably more the second. Despite the varied but mostly trashy reviews it's had, I do actually think this is a pretty good piece of film. There are some parts early on that seem to be a little slow but by the end it all comes together nicely and well, after watching it again, it was easier to make sense of it all and work out was was actually going on. It's evident the story was largely written by Bono. I thought alot of the poetry, dialogue and ideas in the film were very typically him. The ideas of televsion vs reality, love vs betrayal, normality vs chaos, life vs death.

Wow..After I jumped it occured to me life is perfect, life is the best, full of magic and beauty, opportunity..and television!... and surprises, lot's of surprises, and then there's the best stuff of course better than anything anyone ever made up..Cause It's Real.
SUMO WRESTLING
The last place you'd expect to see a fight break out is in a small suburban Chinese Restaurant. Saturday night it was all on baby. At first no one, including myself, knew what the hell was going on. Was all very strange.

Three groups of people at three tables doing there own thing. Some people at table one (young crowd, large group) were smoking. People at table two (Middle aged men with wives) didn't like this so proceeded to open front door to let fresh air in. (Asking people at table one to refrain from lighting up was obviously to difficult) Male at table three (also middled aged couples) didn't like the cold breeze so therefore closed door. Aggressive male at table two didn't like this and threatened to beat the living daylights out of bloke at table three. Oh yeah did I mention all people involved were somewhat drunk. So anyway, a fight breaks out with four people from table two and three getting involved. People from table one jump up and break it up. Poor chinese waitress caught up in the middle of it. The girlfriend of a guy on table one who's birthday is being celebrated decides to start screaming and yelling at top note at the brawlers involved. Obviously upset that the night has somewhat been ruined. Fight calms down, but smart arse comments follow from every which direction. People from table two leave not long after. People from table one proceed to drink, smoke and talk to people on table three.

Confused? Good! Probably the most action that restaurant has ever seen. We tipped the waitresses nice and good at the end of the night.

VIEW FROM A FORD
My view
V2001
Got tickets for the V2001 festival just outside of London in August. Some good acts lined up as well. Chilli Peppers, Coldplay, Powderfinger, Placebo, Neil Finn, The Avalanches etc etc etc It's a weekend camping ticket, which means little sleep for a few days. Can't wait. Although I was just informed that Barnsey is now also on the bill. Ugh... Remind me to be somewhere else when he's performing.
BLACKOUT
VIDEO
Watched the film Meet the Parents tonight. And well I must say, I thought it was pretty funny. Sure the humour was a little over the top and all (Hmmm do I even know what i mean by that?) but hey, humour like that is often good to just sit back to, relax and have a good laugh. Very laid back.

DIGITAL
Been borrowing the digital camera from work every so often as of late. Those things are great I tell ya. Have been happily snapping away. I'll try and get some more photos up here every so often. Took some last night of the Australian U2 Show.

GOOD FOOD SHOW
Spent the last couple of days working at the Good Food Show over at the Exhibition Buildings. Our company had a stand where we showcased some of our products via display and demo's/tastings. I really enjoyed working over the long weekend, didn't bother me one bit that I had to work whilst everyone else was taking a day off for Her Majesty, the Queen. Guess I love crowds and the thrill of being amongst it all to. Keeps me sane, as opposed to being locked up in the same place with the same people on any other normal working day. Oh yeah and the quality of women present over the weekend was also exceptional. One tends to enjoy work more whilst surrounded by hot looking females. The eyes had a huge workout!

STREETS
U2audio.com have some footage of U2 performing Where the Streets Have No Name on their latest tour. Was shown on American television apparently. All I can say is WOW.... Gettin' pumped for when I see em in London now.

FORE
Pulled out the golf clubs today for the first time in years. Had a bash with the cousin's down at Royal Ivanoe public golf course. First tee off went a bloody mile, on the wrong fairway, but that's beside the point. My whole game overall was pretty tidy actually, despite an always crap short game. Ended up with 48 for 9 holes.
BEER
The Foster's Brewing Group website. One that pays respect to Australian Beer. It's gotta be good for footy. I dedicate this find to Patsy. Happy Birthday!

Crown Lager has a distinctive flavour and is brewed using only the finest ingredients to deliver a creamy fruit taste and rich, malty palate.

ANOTHER DAY
Another mellow weekend, was home by midnight tonight (Saturday). Caught up with Hamo for a few quiet ale's then came home. Probably the best way to have it to, what, with all that's going on in my life at the moment. Have been spending lots of time with the family over the last few days. It's been comforting. So now i'm messing around on here and I come across a website for the legendary Big Kev. Time to go to bed me thinks.

GOODBYE
When you lose someone special, I guess you can never be totaly prepared. It doesn't seem real... It can't be real...... Now my head is full of regrets, but I guess one shouldn't spend to much time pondering on the 'What if's' in life. It was sudden and most of it it was without to much suffering. Goodbye Gran.

Sleep , sleep tonight
and may your dreams be realised
If the thundercloud passes rain
So let it rain, rain down on here
So let it be....

INTRUDERS
The big surprise was revealed on Big Brother tonight. Two new housemates suddenly walked in on the action. One of which has to be evicted in two days time. An attempt to try keep it interesting and help keep up the ratings perhaps? Afterall the introduction of the dog didn't really work did it.

BOREDOM
When you spend an entire day inside, at home , you feel kinda unproductive and bored. One tends to pace around alot not knowing what to do or where to go. Still managed to find stuff to do though. I now have a more organised room, which makes no difference really. Or does it?. I did leave the house for about 20 minutes later in the evening, just for a drive to get outta here. The whole weekend was very laid back actually, even when I was out last night things seemed rather mellow.

Still figuring out what to take away with me and anything else that needs to be organised. Clothes, Cases/Luggauge, Sleeping bags, Credit Cards, Mobile Phones, Travellers cheques, Passports, Walkmans, etc etc etc. It's a headfuck just thinking about all the planning that's needed for a holiday like this.

CONTIKI
So, this is the tour I shall be taking to kick of my European Vacation. Better get used to minimal sleep and excess partying pretty quickly (not that that will be much of a problem for me), but still, at 23 i just can't seem to last as long or go as hard as i used to. Call me Gramps. A month on the road with the same group of people is going to be an experience.

GET BACK
School Re-union Fiday night. Been six years since I saw alot of those guys and well was great to catch up. Although it's a little scary when you find out some of them are married, have kids or are really starting to settle down. Still, it kinda felt like old times all over again and I seemed to get along with people much better than I did when I was at school. Mind you, we were always sober back in those days, something which I can't really say for the other night. Was pretty messy by the end of it.

WORK
Is it just me or does work get tedious? Probably cause my mind is somewhere else, mainly on that overseas trip i'll be takin' very soon. I need more money!

REVEALED
Oh yeah, also bought the new REM album earlier in the week. Usually first impressions let you know how good an album really is. What can I say, I played it once and i've been playing it lots since. Already have a few fav' tracks, although 'I'll take the rain' is in pole position. Proabably one of Stipey's better lyrics to date.

Already in my top albums of the past year or so, alongside:
U2 - 'All that you can't leave behind'
Powderfinger - 'Odysey Number 5' .
Placebo - 'Black Market Music'
Coldplay - 'Parachutes'
The Avalanches - 'Since I Left You'
....And no i'm not going to include Radiohead's 'Kid A' in that list. Sure there are some good tracks there but it wasn't as good as the hype suggested. Gimme Ok Computer or The Bends anyday.
WORK AND VISA'S
Been a weirdish kinda week. Things feel strange and i can't explain why. All I know is that my interest level in such things as work has been , how shall we say, kinda low. Continuing with my holiday preparations, this weeks task has been to organise a UK working visa amongst other things. At least that has been given my full attention.

BLEED INTO ONE
It's articles like this that help reassure me why I listen to the music that I do. Ok so it's a little over the top but still, reading this put a great big smile on my face.

...but I believe rock ’n’ roll to be not a genre of music but an all-encompassing force that simultaneously forsakes and embraces all that came before it and all that has come since. I believe it to be the sound of freedom, liberation, the human spirit unshackled. I believe in the Kingdom Come and then all the colors will bleed into one.

I believe in fire in the belly, passion in the back seat, snare drums that sound like cannon shots coming over a ship’s bow and singers, writers and poets who spill their guts, open their veins, make us laugh, show us the way

JUST CALL ME TOM
Did a bar training course over the weekend. Was actually really interesting. Just your basic learn how work behind a bar kinda stuff, ie service, bar maintenance, mixing drinks, pouring beers, how to deal with intoxicated patrons. So now I have a little bit of paper that compliments me with some kind of experience. All I gotta do is put it to practical use.

HELLO AGAIN
Caught up with some old freinds tonight. Well old in the sense i've known em for quite a few years and nowadays we only get together as a group every so often. Probably why we're still pretty close. We don't get a chance to get sick of each other. Was a birthday/going away thingy for one of em tonight. Everyone's pissin' off to Europe it seems, including myself.

BIG BROTHER
I've succumbed to reality TV. That new 'Big Brother' show has got me. It's on the tele every night at 7pm, but the last few nights i've been tuning in via the web. Late at night is when things start to get saucy and here you get to witness the convo's that most likely won't make it to air. It's kinda been like that scene in 'Being John Malkovich' where every word said is 'Malkovich'. Just replace Malkovich with 'Fuck'..... Tonight Miss Domanatrix declared "LETS HAVE AN ORGY".

I'VE BEEN LINKED
...by Caro and her cool little weblog over at prolific.org. Ugh does this mean there are people actually reading this now?
FUNKAI
Public Holiday tomorrow. Feels weird comin' home late on a Tuesday night. Another night out sober, driving around mates who have had a leeeeedle too much of the silly juice. Males tend to get VERY LOUD after a few. Did the usual Irish pub thing at Pugg Mahones. I think that means something like 'Kiss My Arse' in Gaelic. As that closed earlyish, it was off to find somewhere else. Found a few funky and kinda retroesque type clubs which i thought we're pretty laid back and cool. 'Chokolate' and 'Chaise Lounge'. I love getting may way, mind you it was not everyone's thang. Still you can never disagree on a place where the women are quality.

...IT RAINS
Been pissin' down today, raining on and off all weekend. First hard rain in a long time and everything feels fresh again. In times like this I seem to have a preference in listening to really mellow ambient music. Passenger's (U2's ambient little side project) made a re-appearance for the first time in a fair while yesterday. Some amazingly beautiful music on that thing.

"And time is a string of pearls...your blue room
See the future just hanging there...your blue room
A new frame, a new perspective
Looking down on my objectives
Your instructions whatever their directions
Your blue room"

SHOW US YA MOLE
Yet another reality television show had its grand finale tonight. Bloody things are takin' over our airwaves. Tonight's exiting television adventure was the Australian version of 'The Mole'. At least this one don't end with an "Island" in its title. If only Fantasy Island were reality TV as well. We'd have a 3 foot dwarf confessing all his deepest sexual desires whilst pointing at a plane flying overhead.

..Anyways, whilst the rest of the family were glued to the set guessing and wondering who the mole really is, I was elsewhere doing god knows what. Went and watched the last few moments when the Mole was revealed. After that went and did something else....

SLOWLY BECOMING A NERD
Look what i went and learnt how to do. Over there on the left,... links and a picture. With just a little help from others and things get done.
LATE
Been sitting here for hours trying to work all this out. Guess I've managed to learn a little bit...It's a start anyway. How do i get links and pictures and all fancy things of my own on the side or up top or down the bottom? hmmmmm time will tell..
Oh well work again tomorrow, routine and monotony at its grandest. Think ill nod off to some music...perhaps some Crowded House?

MULLET
Bono sure did have a decent mullet!

BEGIN
Alrighty here is my first feeble attempt at a blog on ma verry own webpage. The page itself probably don't look much, all I gotta do now is figure out how to make it look all nice and purty by adding my own touch of spice. If only HTML was as easy to figure out as drinking a beer.
